Authorities in California say a father and son have been arrested in connection with a wildfire that began last month in the city of Lake Elsinore and is now believed to have caused up to $250 million in damage.

Francisco Javier Camacho, who turns 35 on Saturday, and his son Fabian Javier Camacho, 21, were reportedly arrested on suspicion of arson, reckless burning and failure to remove flammable material. A criminal complaint identifies Francisco Javier Camacho as an engineer with the San Bernardino County Fire Department and Fabian Javier Camacho as a sergeant in the fire department.

Both are in custody at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, California.

The large blaze was initially called the King Fire when it broke out on July 22 after a car ignited flammable material in a trash bin. Officials later called it the Springs Fire after evacuating homes in the community of Lake Elsinore.

After flaming down hills and through dense vegetation, flames finally subsided on September 2. But about two weeks later, a second blaze began near a town near the footprint of the first.
